assignment 2
Then came version 2, where I rounded the design in the hopes it was printable wihtout the support. The first try (top picture) I printed the Design without support but with adhesion to give me a bit of security. The print came out good, but everything was connected to eachother due to the adhesion.

The second try i wanted to print it without he adhesion and see if i can print all lose from eachother. But because the print wasn't fixed to the bed, eventually everything started moving and looked like spilled rice.

For the third try I wanted to use the profesional printer with solvable support. I just put in the print and let the printer do its thing, after about 6 hours the result on the right side came out.
I wanted to make a flexible like texture with the 3D-printer. Kinda like the chainmail that the knights used to wear.

I started with this design. A square shaped chain that goes over and under other chains. The chainlinks are not connected to eachother with would technically mean that if I print them, everything is lose.

After printing, i got a solid block back. The overhang was to big for the printer to print and made all the licks connect to eachother. It was a good start, but a lot had to improve.
For version 3, I wanted to make an enclosed "armored" version of the print, seeing if i could make a enclosed like textile while also being flexible.

This design was also printed in the professional printer to ensure I get a result back. And the picture above shows you what I got back. Much less of the skin underneath is visible due to the squares on top. And if I wanted to i could make the gaps in between smaller, without losing flexibility.
Working with the chainmails got me inspirered to make an actual chain with the 3D-printer by adding links during the process.

I started with printing two chainlinks, and about halfway into the print I added little metal rings in between to connect them, and also on both ends. This gave me the ability to make an even longer link. Which I did

I started the exact same print another time and added the rings, but on one end I added the print I finished before that, making it a 4 linked piece.

Before I continued the chain I wanted to see if I could enlarge the starting amount. I prepared a print where it would print 6 links at the same time as seen on the left.

About halfway I added the links I already printed to make it a full sized necklace. The process is also seen under this text.
